Hi, I'm Iain

I'm a polyglot programmer, occasional consultant, and father-to-be based in Warwickshire, UK.

Since being made redundant in 2025, I've spent much of my time renovating the Edwardian mid-terrace house I own with my partner. It often occurs to me that I should set aside some time to write about the seemingly endless variety of jobs I find myself tackling, but alas, the days roll by without a written word in sight.

Between stints of physical toil, I return to working on open-source software. At the moment, my focus is an experimental Git server called Source.

Source is an attempt to reimagine how Git servers scale beyond the storage capacity of a single host, with a particular emphasis on keeping operational overhead manageable.

There's not a great deal to see here just yet, but you can find some of my open-source work on GitHub under @iainjreid.
